If Helen of Troy had a face that launched a thousand ships, Yana Gupta comes a close second. Her flawless complexion, perfect body, a height of 5 feet 8 inches and twinkling eyes make her the object of envy for many a woman. As for men, well it would be easy to imagine the effect she has on them!
Born in the Czech Republic on 23rd April 1979 as Jana Synkova, she married Satyakam Gupta; they separated in 2005. Besides her native Czech language, she can also speak Spanish, Japanese, English, and a little Hindi and Urdu.
Like most models she started young; Yana has been modeling since she was 16. Her career started in Europe, where she apparently modeled for big brands like Victoria’s Secret, Calvin Klien, Toyota, Honda, Sony, Nivea, Rexona, Shu Uemura and Shiseido.
After working in the fashion capitals of the world, from Paris to Milan, Vienna to Munich, Tokyo to Hamburg and Prague, she landed in India. In no time she was flooded with modeling offers from top brands in the country.
She replaced Liza Ray as the brand ambassador of Lakme. Can we forget the Lakme Peach Milk Moisturizer advertisement? The ad was tailor made for her…the peaches and milk skin tone and European looks took her high above all the other models.
Obviously her face was splashed across all leading magazines, like Elle, Cosmopolitan, Maxim and Femina. Vijay Mallya, the connoisseur of all things pretty roped her in to be Kingfisher’s brand ambassador, and she was featured in the prestigious Kingfisher calendar.
From modeling she entered Bollywood, making men swoon with her antics as an “item girl”. Her first stint was “babuji zara dheere chalo” in Dum (2003). Her smooth moves and sexy outfits catapulted her to the status of the best item girl in the industry. Apparently Bipasha Basu was offered the role, but she declined it.
In 2004 she did some more grooving in Rakht. The song “Oh what a babe” wasn’t great, but she looked as hot as ever.
Yana has made her presence not just in Bollywood, but down South as well. She performed item numbers in a Tamil flick Mannmadhan (2004) and 2 Telugu films Anniyan (2005) and Gharshana (2004). Then in 2007 she performed an item number in the Telugu film Shankardada Zindabad.
As if that wasn’t enough, she has acted in a Bengali film too! She has a role in 90 Ghanta (2008), though its length and importance are not known.
She is a model, dancer and actor. What’s left? Singing. She’s done that too. She has sung “Aag ka Dariya” (2008) along with Dr Zeus, and is featured in the video as well.
She may look like delicate, but this hottie is made of steel. In the 1st season of Khatron Ke Khiladi, the TV series anchored by Akshay Kumar, Yana was one of the 13 competing women, and she did a great job. Who knew she could be such a dare devil.
This vegetarian and member of PETA has reportedly been roped in to be the brand ambassadoe of indiagames. On the Indian gaming site she will be featured in games and applications related to fitness, puzzles etc.
It comes as no surprise that she is a fitness freak. She loves aerobics and dancing, and also likes to play the piano and flute.
